Wreck near Brighton injures two

BRIGHTON (May 24, 2018) – Illinois State Police District 18 is investigating a two-unit crash with injuries that occurred on Route 111/267 near Gun Club Road, north of Brighton, on Thursday, May 10.

According to police, a 2014 Cadillac driven by Patricia Bracht, 80, of Godfrey was northbound on Route 111/267 at about 12:39 p.m., with a 1995 Peterbilt semi-trailer driven by Robert Gardner, 66, of Ashland, behind it, also northbound. Bracht reportedly pulled off the roadway to the right and attempted to make a U-turn; in the process, she pulled out in front of Gardner’s vehicle. Gardner was unable to avoid striking Bracht’s vehicle.

Bracht was transported to Barnes-Jewish Hospital by Arch Air Medical Service and her passenger, Patricia Goreman, 80, of Godfrey, was transported to Alton Memorial Hospital by Alton Memorial EMS. Both had non-life-threatening injuries.

Other agencies on the scene were Brighton Fire Department and Brighton Police Department.
