Wildcats fall in junior high state quarters
EAST PEORIA (Oct. 5, 2017) – East Peoria’s Eastside Center was the site for Friday’s Class 2A state baseball championship quarterfinals.
Palmyra Northwestern entered with a 17-1 record, facing off against the 8-3 Paris Crestwood squad.
In an errorless affair, it was Paris Crestwood moving on to the state semis with a 3-2 hard fought win over the Wildcats.
Both teams scored a run in the first inning. Northwestern, the visiting team fell behind 3-1 as Crestwood scored twice in the fourth inning.
The Wildcats scored in the fifth inning to make it 3-2, but that would be the end of the scoring for the contest.
Brady Pembrook had two hits and a run; Drake Stuart had a single and RBI; Connor Bettis had a double and RBI; Dylan Pembrook had a single and run, while Brett Bilbruck had a single.
B.Pembrook pitched the first three and two-third innings, allowing seven hits and three runs, with three walks and five strikeouts.
Bettis pitched two and a third hitless innings, striking out two.
