West Central All-Star game set for June 15

Seventeen recent graduates from Macoupin County high schools will take part in the 25th annual West Central Illinois All-Star Football Game, which is set for Saturday, June 15 at 5 p.m. at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School’s West Campus in Springfield.

In total, the contest has 91 senior high school players from the 2012 season representing 34 high schools in West Central Illinois.

Participants from Macoupin County on the red South Squad are:

• Cory Farneti, Brendan Stewart, Tucker Clinton and Ben Butcher of Carlinville High School;
• Alex Pembrook, Cameron Damm and Justin Schaaf of Greenfield/Northwestern  High School;
• Walter Mitchell and C.J. Couch of Southwestern High School; and,
• Bo Davis, Larry Caldieraro, Christian Semanik and Logan Miller of Staunton High School.

Participants from Macoupin County on the blue North Squad are: Tyler Young, Alex Perrine, Jacob Myers and Jacob Myers.

Practices took place from June 10-13.

Brad Pugh of Pleasant Plains will coach the North, while Dave Jacobs of Jersey High School will coach the South.
