Country Financial/Gary Edwards Offensive Player of the Game
Dylan Chism has been selected as this week’s Country Financial/Gary Edwards Offensive Player of the Week.
Chism, a 5-foot-8, 160-pound junior running back led Carlinville rushers with 42 yards on 12 carries in Carlinville SCC game at Pana. He also had 1 catch for 5 yards.
“He played very well last night in a tough atmosphere,” Carlinville head coach Chad Easterday said. “I thought he grinded out some good yardage when we needed it. He’s filled a role for us that we needed.”
Chism received a plaque, courtesy of Edwards, a Country Financial representative in Carlinville along with a large pizza compliments of Little Italy’s Pizza in the Carlinville Plaza.
The Cubby Hole Defensive Player of the Game
Hayden Thompson was named The Cubby Hole Defensive Player of the Game.
Thompson, a 5-foot-8, 140-pound junior defensive back had 3 solo tackles and 2 deflected passes. “Hayden stepped in playing on and off at free safety and had some key tackles for us,”
Easterday said. “His pass defense in the second half was very good. He did a good job.”
Thompson received a plaque, courtesy of The Cubby Hole along with a large pizza compliments of Nick’s Pizza in Carlinville.
Farmer’s Insurance Game Changer Award
Daniel Card received the Farmer’s Insurance/Jacob Hainsfurther Game Changer Award this week.
Card, a 5-foot-10, 230-pound sophomore provided Carlinville with solid line play at defensive tackle and had a fumble recovery.
“He stepped in there for us in the second quarter when we had some guys getting tired and had a nice ball game,” Easterday said. “I thought he just did an exceptional job on the defensive line.”
