Week 1 football Players of the Week
Jacob Dixon has been selected as this week’s Country Financial/Gary Edwards Offensive Player of the Week.
Dixon, a 6-foot, 170-pound junior running back had 237 allpurpose yards in Carlinville’s 4824 season opening win at Roxana. Dixon rushed for 138 yards on 24 carries with 2 touchdowns and had 2 catches for 66 yards.
“He came out of the chutes and was productive in both the passing game and the running game,” Carlinville head coach Chad Easterday said. “He’s that versatile athlete that we knew he could be last year and he continued that this week.”
Dixon received a plaque, courtesy of Edwards, a Country Financial representative in Carlinville along with a large pizza compliments of Little Italy’s Pizza in the Carlinville Plaza.
The Cubby Hole Defensive Player of the Game
Dylan Chism was named The Cubby Hole Defensive Player of the Game.
Chism, a 5-foot-8, 160-pound junior linebacker had 14 tackles including 4 solos and 2 tackles for loss. Chism, a returning starter, was among team leaders in tackles last year with 63.
“I thought he really had a nose for the football last year and he continued that,” Easterday said. “I really felt last night that he read his key, he stayed within himself and he did a great job for us.”

Carlinville Football Club Game Changer Award
Adam Walton received the Farmer’s Insurance/Jacob Hainsfurther Game Changer Award this week.
Walton, a 6-foot-1, 165-pound junior quarterback completed 14of18 passes for 170 yards with 4 touchdowns and no interceptions. He had TD passes of 10, 6, 13 and 4 yards – all to classmate Brady Jamieson. He has picked up 47 yards rushing on 7 carries.
“I knew that he could do it – it was just a matter of time to get him out there and let everybody else see that he could do it,” Easterday said of Walton. “He did a great job. He put the ball on the money. He put the ball where only our kids could catch it.”
