Volunteers needed for Children’s Christmas Spree
CARLINVILLE (Dec. 7, 2017) – As the Children’s Christmas Spree approaches, organizers report that volunteers are still needed.
“Donations are coming in so that we will be able to take 140 children spree shopping, but in order to match each child with a volunteer, 40 more adults are needed,” said organizer Eleanor Harms.
Spree shopping will take place at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, and 11:45 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 10. Volunteers will meet at the Federated Church, where they will be introduced to the children going on the spree. The pairs of shoppers will be provided with cash from donations in order to purchase clothing, shoes, and toys or gifts.
“The gift of time given by the volunteers to the children makes the spree experience special,” said longtime organizer Mary Loveless.
To volunteer, call Mary Beasley at (217) 854-2410, Mary Loveless at (217) 825-3626 or Martha Young at (217) 854-9769, or text Eleanor Harms at (217) 851-0075. To make a donation, send the gift to CNB Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 350, Carlinville, IL 62626; $140 will sponsor a child, but donations of any amount are welcome.
