Volunteers needed for Children’s Christmas Spree this weekend
Volunteers are still needed for the 38th annual Children’s Christmas Spree, to be held this weekend, Dec. 1-2.
What makes the Spree a special memory for the children who shop is making a new friend, experiencing generosity of spirit and receiving the gift of time. Volunteers take children shopping locally for clothing, shoes, coats and toys. After introductions, shoppers head out for snacks and shop with money that has been donated by individuals, businesses, churches and civic groups.
On Saturday, Dec. 1, shoppers and volunteers will meet at the Federated Church at 9:30 a.m.; those shopping on Sunday, Dec. 2, will meet at 11:45 a.m. at the church.
To sign up to volunteer, contact Mary Beasley at (217) 854-2410 or email@example.com, Mary Loveless at (217) 825-3626 or firstname.lastname@example.org or Martha Young at (217) 854-9769.
Donations of any amount are needed and welcome; a donation of $140 will sponsor a child. To contribute, mail a donation to CNB Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 350, Carlinville, IL 62626.
Emma Reichert volunteered to take a local child shopping last year as part of the Children’s Christmas Spree. Volunteers are still needed for this year’s spree, which will be held this weekend.
