Velma Lorene WieseVelma Lorene Wiese, 93, of Carlinville, passed away Monday morning, June 3, 2013, at her daughter’s residence in Carlinville.

She was born Sept. 24, 1919, in Nilwood, to Thomas and Opal Conlee Weller.  She married Arthur Wiese Jan. 22, 1946, in Carlinville. He preceded her in death March 18, 1997.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Estel Weller; and two sisters, Verda Downing and Vesta Fay Weller in infancy.

Velma was a farming wife and homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Carlinville and active in the Women’s Evening Guild. She enjoyed her church, gardening, sewing and baking angel food cake.

Surviving are one son, Dean A. (Gloria) Wiese, of Carlinville; two daughters, Marie (Fred) Conklin, of Camdenton, Mo. and Norma (Brian) Mitchell, of Carlinville; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three nieces; and one sister-in-law, Marcella Weller.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, 2013,  from 4-7 p.m., at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 7, 2013, at 10 a.m., at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Carlinville with the Rev. Kevin Strope officiating.

Burial will follow at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ or VNA-TIP Hospice.
