Two injured in single-vehicle crash

Illinois State Police District 18 is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred on Route 159 half a mile north of Route 138, north of Bunker Hill, Saturday afternoon, Feb. 25.
According to police, a 2006 Pontiac driven by Rudolph Jackson, 52, of Royal Lakes was southbound on Route 159 half a mile north of Route 138 when the vehicle left the roadway to the east and hit the ditch embankment, then struck a tree.
Both the driver and the passenger, Denita Hidden, 36, of Gillespie, were ejected from the vehicle. Jackson was transported to Barnes-Jewish Hospital by Survival Flight Helicopter Service, and Hidden was transported to Alton Memorial Hospital by the hospital’s ambulance service. Both are expected to survive.
Other agencies on the scene were Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department, Bunker Hill Police Department, Bunker Hill Fire Department and Shipman Fire Department.
The crash is still under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
