Support Small Business Saturday

Dear Editor,

CARLINVILLE (Nov. 16, 2017) – Small Business Saturday is the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which is designated as a special day to highlight and promote small, more independent, local businesses during the Christmas shopping season.

Carlinville is blessed with a variety of unique shops brimming with tons of gift ideas. Those businesses are owned by our friends and neighbors, and their very existence depends on our support. However, you don’t need to limit yourself to retail stores only; the newspaper makes an appreciated gift, or shower someone you love with a new savings account. Update your insurance policy for the security of your loved one’s future. How about a will or estate planning as a gift for your children? Restaurant gift certificates would be nice, as well as Shop Local First gift certificates to spend at our local member businesses! You are only limited by your imagination because the possibilities are all here in Carlinville.

Knowing that every local business is the backbone of our local economy, Shop Local First would like to invite everyone to please look around Carlinville at the amazing array of gift items available for that special someone on your gift list before looking out of town. Even if it is only a little, Shop Local First hopes that you understand the powerful difference that you will make to our community by shopping locally!

“It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do little; do something!” – Sydney Smith, 18th century writer, philosopher and cleric.

The Shop Local First office at 126 West Main will be open on Small Business Saturday from 9:00 until Noon for your Gift Certificate purchases.

Merry Christmas and happy shopping from the Board of Shop Local First!
