Students learn about emergency awareness
CARLINVILLE (March 8, 2018) – Red Cross volunteers presented The Pillowcase Project, an emergency youth preparedness program, to over 325 students in third through fifth grade at Carlinville.
Students learned how to prepare for tornadoes, earthquakes and fire emergencies. They were taught coping skills and how to make their own emergency kit using a pillowcase.
Each teacher received classroom posters, a teacher packet of materials, student workbooks, fabric markers and a Disney-designed pillowcase to be decorated by the students in their classrooms.
As pat of the lesson students, learned about the importance of smoke alarms. Red Cross offers a smoke alarm installation programs to homeowners without alarms. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
