Star in the making: 6-year old bowler scores
Big things come in small packages

Six-year old Cody Nix of Shipman broke his old bowling record of 177 and scored a single-game total of 193 points at Carlinville’s Bowlero Lanes last Friday. In addition, he bowled three strikes in a row. Before his record-breaking game, Nix received a brand new freshly-drilled Brunswick Rhino ball setup and headed straight to the bowling alley to try it out. When all was said and done, only three out of 110 total pins were untouched.
“It doesn’t matter how old you are. Hard work and having fun will pay off,” said Cody’s father, Josh Nix.
C. Nix attends Brighton North Elementary School and has already been bowling for two years. He also bowls with the Carlinville Elks Lodge junior team every Sunday night.
On Jan. 20, C. Nix will have a chance to qualify for state at the Pepsi Youth Bowling Championship tournament in Decatur.
