Stanley G. Miller
Stanley G. Miller, 89, of Carlinville passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Friendship Home in Carlinville. He was born Dec. 28, 1923, in Chicago, to Chauncey and Madeline Severance Miller II. He married Mary Lou Tinsley June 2, 1950, in Mexico City, Mexico.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife in 1994.
Stanley was an Illinois College graduate and studied at the University of the Americas in Mexico City. He was a United States Army veteran of WWII, serving in Europe and setting the Army back a good 30 years. He taught Spanish, English, and government at Carrollton High School and taught at Bluffs High School for 30 years during which time he was appointed to the Illinois Education Council by Gov. Walker. Stanley enjoyed drawing and reading and was a proudly ordained minister in the Universal Life Church.
Surviving are two sons; Steve (Elaine) Miller, of Carlinville and Lance (Deb) Miller, of San Antonio, Texas; and three grandchildren, Hannah Miller, Edward Khan and Shireen Mullink.
There was a memorial gathering at the Anchor Inn Portside, Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 7 p.m., at Stanley’s request.
