Southwestern bolts out to early lead to spoil

CARLINVILLE – An 11-run first inning paved the way for Southwestern to defeat Carlinville 12-0 Tuesday in a junior high baseball game played at Loveless Park.

The game spoiled the home opener for the Junior Cavies (1-1), as they were outhit 10-3 in the game.

Carson Wiser, Ethan Siglock and Sam Quarton all had singles for the Carlinville squad. Kolton Castillo, Ayden Tiburzi and Logan Hammann all saw time on the mound. Costello struck out one, Tiburzi struck out four and Hammann struck out one batter.

CMS returns to action Wednesday at Staunton.
