Snyders – 60th anniversary

Don and Marilyn (Kasten) Snyder of Litchfield, formerly of Raymond, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Friday, June 16. They were married in 1957 at the United Church of Christ (formerly the Evangelical and Reformed Church) in Carlinville, with Rev. H.O. Renken officiating.
Mr. Snyder is the son of the late Don and Betty Snyder of Raymond, and Mrs. Snyder is the daughter of the late Archie and Mary Kasten of Carlinville.
Mr. Snyder, a veteran of the Korean War, farmed all his married life, until his retirement in 2002. He is a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church, serving as deacon for 37 years. He has also served on the Zanesville Township Board and as a director of the Macoupin Mutual Insurance Company. He is a member of American Legion Post 299 and served on the Color Guard.
Mrs. Snyder is also a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church, where she was secretary for 22 years. She was the coordinator of the food pantry at the church and a member of the Willing Workers. She retired from Bank and Trust Company’s Raymond branch after 16 years. She is a member of American Legion Post 299 Auxiliary.
The couple are members of the Litchfield Senior Citizens Club and currently attend the Christian Church of Litchfield.
They have six daughters, Patty (husband John) Fletcher of Raymond, Beth (husband Dan) Martin, Shelley (husband Lynn) Weitekamp, the late Renee (husband Todd) Thomas, all of Farmersvile, Kristi (husband Nick) Zakula of Mt. Prospect and Tonya Flannery of Litchfield; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.
An open house to celebrate their anniversary will be held from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, June 11, at the Magnuson Grand Hotel, Raymond.
