HSHS St. Francis Hospital will host a free Ladies’ Bee Well event from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 20, at the hospital.

The event will include giveaways, health screenings, education, pampering (such as neck massages and hand waxing) and more. The activities and displays will be located in several areas within the hospital, including the front lobby, gift shop, outpatient registration, surgery waiting area, radiology waiting area, Family Birth Center, auditorium and cafeteria. Foresee Vineyards will provide free wine tastings, and Coffee Xpresso will provide coffee samples. Hors d’oeuvres will be available.

Kimberly Wade, president of the Kids Shouldn’t Have Cancer Foundation, will be the featured speaker. She serves as an advocate for pediatric cancer research and treatment and will share the story of her son, Jonny, who died of pediatric cancer and wished for no other kid to have cancer. Magazines and radio talk shows have featured Wade’s story, and she was honored during the 2016 State of the Union address. She has a master’s degree in accounting and lives with her husband Jon and Jonny’s twin brother, Jackson, in Jerseyville. She will offer presentations at 6 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. in the auditorium.

Hospital colleagues and members of the St. Francis Auxiliary Board and Foundation Board are working together to coordinate the event. They include Miranda Bergman, Sharon Cordani, Kim Bishop, Becky Bishop, Elisa Feldmann, Joanne VanLeer, Jane Martin, Marilyn Pastrovich, Paula Endress, Amy Cooper, Meghan Bilyeu, Melissa Leonard and Meghan Bertolino.

Registration is required by Monday, April 17, to guarantee tickets to the event. Individuals who register may pick up their attendance packets the night of the event in the hospital’s front lobby, near the gift shop. For more information or to register, call Melissa Leonard at (217) 324-8678.
