Scholarship funds raised during tourney
Twenty-one golf teams gathered at Timber Lakes Golf Course Sept. 23 to raise over $17,500 for the Bob Price scholarship fund.
Some golfers were there to compete and some just for the fun, camaraderie, to remember Bob, and a “good cause”. Price’s family was present for the event, including sister Carol Harrison (North Carolina) and brothers Roger Price (Hillsboro) and Jerry and wife Keri Price of Washington; and niece Audra Harrison (Virginia).
Cash payouts went to the first three places, and 11th place. First place, Score 57 went to the team of Mitch Scheller, Dave Scheller, Andy Mayer from Mount Olive and Chuck Satterlee (Walshville).
Second place went to the team of Craig Koehler (Troy), Jeff Norton (Bunker Hill), Randy Rushing (Springfield) and Larry Trent (Alton).
Third place went to the team of Larry DeLuka, Matt DeLuka, Mike Rappe, and Greg Lipe all from Hillsboro.
Longest Drive winner was Ann Kallal (Carrollton) and Women’s Closest to the Pin was Angie Lemarr (Brighton).
Men’s Closest to the Pin winner was Jerry Cruthis (Litchfield). Cody Goldsboro (Vandalia) won a golf bag in the putting contest. The winner of the cash/gun raffle was Kenny Kallal of Carrollton and he chose the $500.
Three $1,000 scholarships were awarded last year with a total of nine awarded in the past three years. The scholarships are available to high school senior students in Calhoun, Greene, Jersey, Macoupin, and Montgomery counties.
