Illinois Valley Rehabilitation Center in Gillespie will hold its annual spring sale Saturday, May 13, and Monday through Friday, May 15-19.
The center is currently seeking donations of plants and gardening materials, as well as garden tools, pots, planters, potting spoil, baskets, garden art, etc. — anything that can be used to enhance the appearance of a garden. Items may be dropped off at the vocational center, located at 212 East Walnut Street, until Friday, May 12, or call the center at (217) 839-2195.
Participants and staff members have made wooden totes and planters, wreaths, birdhouses, squirrel feeders, decorated baskets, handmade signs, Coke crate products, wine and gift crates, wind chimes, cards, and more. Giant, hand-painted, wooden flowers (as well as personalized signs, fall pumpkins and holiday yard ornaments) will be available for purchase or special order.
The event will also include a food stand that will sell coffee and donuts in the morning and hot dogs, chips and soda for lunch.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit the program participants with their garden projects and activities.
For more information, call (217) 839-2195.
These hand-painted wooden flowers, as well as other customizable yard decorations, will be available at Illinois Valley Rehabilitation Center’s spring sale on May 13.
