Refuge Coffee House is Chamber of Commerce’s Business
When driving through Carlinville 13 years ago, Marsha and Bobby Stieglitz fell in love with the unique, small-town feel of the city, with its historic homes and landmarks, and downtown Square. From that initial visit to Dec. 3, during a ribbon-cutting outside their new business, The Refuge Coffee House is the Carlinville Community Chamber of Commerce’s December Business of the Month.
Seen here shortly before cutting the ribbon are, from left, Kadyn Stieglitz, Savannah Stieglitz (holding Sawyer Stieglitz), Scarlette Stieglitz, Marsha and Bobby Stieglitz, Chamber president Joyce Atteberry, Chamber member Richard Oswald, Jr., Miss Carlinville Ryleigh Gibbel and Kali Robinson, Little Miss Carlinville.
Located at 242 East Side Square in Carlinville, The Refuge Coffee House offers, of course, specially roasted coffee, and soups, salads, baked goods and sandwiches, an eclectic, artsy, family friendly atmosphere and an indoor children’s rumpus playroom. There is also live music on Friday evenings, and Saturday evening open mic and karaoke.
The Refuge Coffee House staff is looking forward to its first Christmas Market, offering daily specials and treats, live music with Matt Vollmar, from The Great Romance, Friday evening, local musicians on Saturday and Sunday and special discounts; Santa Claus will also visit Saturday from 2-4 p.m.
The Refuge is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 6 a.m.-7 p.m.; Wednesday, 6 a.m. -8 p.m.; Friday, 6 a.m. -midnight; and Saturday, 7 a.m. -7 p.m.; Sunday, closed.
