Putt Putt tournament raises funds for care packages

Macoupin MIltary Support Group held its fifth annual Iraq-I-Roll putt putt classic Saturday, March 5, to raise funds for the monthly care packages the group sends to local military personnel who are serving overseas.

Participants attempted to get the lowest overall scores at putt putt golf holes located at the Elks Lodge, American Legion, Moose Lodge, VFW, Stoney’s, Wood Duck, Hollywood and Vine, George Room, Lucky Dog, Anchor Inn, Cozy Corner and Willie’s 109.

Team winners were as follows: first place, Untouchables — Matt Killam and Lynn Albertine; second place, Dimpled Balls — Brandy Trump, Jordan Fite, Natalie Brown and Brian Miller; and third place, Ball Hungry — Jenni Bishop, Jessi Bishop, Alex Scherer and Mike Ruyle.

A total of 45 teams participated, up from 28 the previous year. Organizers hope to have 55 teams participating in next year’s event, which will be held March 4, 2017.
