Playground equipment vandalized
CARLINVILLE (Aug. 31, 2017) – Tom Thumb Park was the scene of some recent vandalism, according to Carlinville Park Board President Larry Smith.
According to Smith, markers were used to write on sliding board and other fiberglass pieces of the park’s play set. The damage is believed to have been done Aug. 23. Smith explained that he doesn’t know if there is a way to remove the permanent marker from the fiberglass. He noted that the damaged equipment was purchased at a cost of about $40,000.
The graffiti, which includes many vulgar words and images, covers almost all of the flat surfaces of the playground equipment.
