Peggy A. Heinz, 66

CARLINVILLE (Dec. 7, 2017) – Peggy Ann Heinz, 66, of Carlinville passed away at 1:25 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born Jan. 25, 1951, in Carlinville, a daughter of Edwin and Dorothy Schaefer. She married Greg Heinz on July 29, 1972, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlinville; he survives.

Mrs. Heinz graduated from Carlinville High School in 1969 and Blackburn College in 1973. She taught for 35 years in the Northwestern School District, touching the lives of hundreds of young children. Her teaching, but more importantly her love and care for her students, made lasting impressions. Following retirement, she taught PSR (catechism) for seven years at Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member. She enjoyed her Wednesday night card club and was a loving grandmother who enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s athletic events and spending family time at Lake Rinaker.

In addition to her husband and mother, surviving are two daughters, Danlee (Greg) Whitler and Ashlee (Justin) Gibbs; four grandchildren, Marlee Whitler, Evee Whitler, Gustav Gibbs and Sylvee Gibbs; siblings, Linda Stuckey, Edwin “Butch” (Chris) Schaefer, Patti (Vince) Mathias and Paula (Brad Mefford) Schaefer, all of Carlinville, John (Donna) Schaefer of Plano, Texas, and Steve (Ellen) Schaefer of Jerseyville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Judy (Rich) Minster of Carlinville, Tom (Michele) Heinz of Hinsdale and Jan (Tim) Best of Carlinville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 12-4 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7, at Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 8, at the church, with Father Michael Haag officiating. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Peg Heinz Scholarship Fund at Northwestern School District or Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church.
