Order of Eastern Star chapters donate duffle bags
CARLINVILLE (March 8, 2018) – Members of the Palmyra and Gillespie Order of Eastern Star collected nine dufflebags worth of items and donated them to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services during a Tuesday morning presentation at the Carlinville office.
One of the programs that the Order of Eastern Star of Illinois participates in is the Karez for Kidz, according to Jane Schmidt, the Worthy Grand Matron. The program is designated for foster children in Illinois.
“There are thousands of children in foster care and they are often moved from one home to another at a moment’s notice,” Schmidt said. “Duffle bags, instead of a garbage bag, that belong to them for their few possessions, can help give them a sense of worth. Personal care kits are also a great thing for them to have.”
