Nathan Jones arrested on drug charges

Information gained from a traffic stop led to Carlinville Police Department executing a search warrant at 9:15 p.m., Sunday, July 16, at 525 West First Street, Carlinville. The Macoupin County State’s Attorney’s Office assisted in the development and approval of the search warrant.

According to information released by the department, the search resulted in the discovery of various drug paraphernalia items, numerous controlled substances and a loaded .357 handgun. Nathan A. Jones, 34, of Carlinville was charged with unlawful possession of more than one gram but less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine with the intent to deliver and possession of less than 15 grams of a substance containing heroin. He was arrested and held at Macoupin County Jail on $50,000 bail until bond of $5,000 was posted on July 17.

A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 14, at Macoupin County Courthouse, with Judge Joshua Meyer presiding. The investigation is continuing, and additional charges may be filed at a later date.
