Mt. Olive falls in volleyball sectional final
A strong core of senior athletes at Mt. Olive High School have completed their last volleyball game of the season with a tough loss.
Mt. Olive traveled to the Jacksonville Routt Sectional final Thursday night against Springfield Lutheran.
Mt. Olive rolled to a 25-12 game one win, and were looking good at a possible supersectional appearance.
But Lutheran rallied with 25-18, 25-10 victories in the last two games, ending Mt. Olive’s record-breaking season at 26-6.
Jill Niehaus had 20 kills, 12 digs, eight blocks and five points for the Wildcats. Brianna Henke added seven kills, nine digs, four blocks and 10 points. Zoe Murphy had 25 assists and six digs, along with two blocks and five points. Caitlyn Fields had 10 digs. Courtney Kernich had six digs and one point; Rachael Kernich had two digs and five points; Lily Gretak three blocks and two points.
