Mrs. Macoupin County Pageant kicks off fair
The Macoupin County Fair is holding its first-ever Mrs. Macoupin County Pageant in the W.W. Bates Building on the Fairgrounds at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 1.
There are no age restrictions and, according to pageant coordinator and fair board director, Jodi Bennett, “swimsuit and heels are NOT required.”
“Forget everything you have heard about pageants,” said Bennet. “This one will be different.”
Interested contestants must live in Macoupin County and must be married. An informational meeting will be held Thursday, May 9, at 6 p.m. in the Bates Building at the fairgrounds.
Those interested in becoming a contestant are asked to bring their entries to the informational meeting, or send their name, address, telephone number, and a $25 registration fee to Mrs. Jodi Bennett c/o Macoupin County Fair, P.O. Box 145, Carlinville, IL 62626 or call at 217-473-3598.
Advance tickets are $15 for an individual or $25 for a couple and are available at the Macoupin County Farm Bureau Office or by contacting Jodi Bennett or Sue Howard at 217-825-6313.
The ticket price includes a meal catered by the Brass Door, a live and silent auction, DJ with a photo booth, and admittance. A cash bar will also be available. The meal will begin at 6 p.m. with the pageant following.
Tickets will also be available on the day of the pageant at cost of $20 for an individual and $30 for a couple. Seating is limited.
The Mrs. Macoupin County Pageant is an evening of entertainment and an opportunity to get into the county fair spirit. All proceeds from the event will go to support the Macoupin County Fair.
The fair is scheduled June 24-29 at the Macoupin County Fairgrounds north of Carlinville.
