MCPHD to offer drive-through flu clinic Sept. 6

Macoupin County Public Health Department (MCPHD) would like Macoupin County residents to help local agencies test their emergency disaster plan by attending a drive-through clinic Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Macoupin County Fair Grounds just north of Carlinville on Illinois Route 4.

The clinic will be offered between 8 and 11 a.m. and is for adults over 18 only; children will not be allowed to participate in the exercise.

Upon arriving at the fairgrounds, participants will remain in their cars. They will complete the required paperwork, which will then be checked for all signatures, and will be required to show either their Medicare or Medicaid card or make a $30 payment. They will then proceed to the final station to receive a flu vaccine.

For this clinic, participants will remain in their cars at all times, so they are asked to wear short-sleeve clothing. Groups of more than two people should arrive in a four-door car.

Only flu vaccines will be given and only to adults. Additional clinics will be announced to offer flu vaccines for children, along with pneumonia vaccines for appropriate persons.
