Louis D. Imel

CARLINVILLE (Oct. 4, 2018) – Louis D. “Lou” Imel, 75, of Carlinville passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 23, 2018, at his residence in Carlinville.

Lou was born on Oct. 20, 1942, to Forrest “Sam” Imel and Ester (Maguire) Dugan in Carlinville. He graduated from Carlinville High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missal Crisis.

Lou worked for and retired from Hays Trucking in Carlinville. He also worked as a transport driver for Macoupin County Transportation. Lou was a member of the Carlinville VFW, Elks Lodge, and Moose Lodge.

Lou is survived by two sons, Max Imel of White City, Ore., and Nathan Imel of Spearfish, S.D.; daughter, Trish Scott-Pennington of Canfield, Ohio; two grandchildren, Liam and Alina Imel; brother, Ed (Sharon) Dugan of Carlinville; sister, Theresa Rathgeb of Sparta, Tenn.; two nieces; and one nephew.

Lou was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Scott.

A celebration of life service was held at noon, Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Carlinville VFW, located at 208 South West Street in Carlinville.

Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warriors Project.
