Lois L. Black
Lois L. Black, 97, of Carlinville passed away Friday evening, Dec. 28, 2018, at Cedar Hurst Care in Edwardsville.
Lois was born Nov. 15, 1921, in Carlinville, a daughter of Walter and Clara (Oller) Bevers.
Lois graduated from Carlinville High School and later married William “Bill” Black on April 12, 1947, in Carlinville.
Lois retired from Prairie Farms Dairy in Carlinville as Mr. Gourley’s secretary. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church in rural Carlinville, American Legion Auxiliary and the Carlinville Area Hospital Auxiliary. Lois enjoyed knitting, crocheting and baking.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband William “Bill” Black on Nov. 24, 2005; sisters; Muriel Peterson and Ada Daugherty; and nephews, Don and Alan Bevers.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Visitation was held one hour before service. Burial followed in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville.
Lois is survived by her brothers, Paul Bevers of Carlinville and Walter (Collette) Bevers of Bradenton, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
