Two members of the Carlinville Junior Air Gun Rifle Team, Samuel Koebbe, 13, and Nick Bormida, 14, traveled to Bloomington April 6 to compete in the NRA Junior Air Gun State Rifle Championship.

The tournament was held in the newly constructed Central Illinois Precision Shooting Range. There were 41 junior competitors in the tournament. Koebbe, the youngest shooter competing with the precision rifle, placed 12th with a 3-position score of 540. His teammate, Bormida, placed 15th with a 3-position score of 535. This was the first year of competition for the pair.

The Junior Air Gun Rifle Team is co-sonsored by the Carlinville Rifle and Pistol Club and Guy Baird Post #554 of the American Legion. The team practices in the American Legion Hall two nights a week.

Firing in the state tournament ended this shooting season. The team will start practice again in August. For more information, contact coach, Jim Hill, at 217-854-2582.
