Lake Rec budget discussed at monthly meeting
CARLINVILLE (Feb. 22, 2018) – City of Carlinville committees continued its pursuit of hammering down a budget for the next fiscal year.
Thursday night, the Lake Rec Committee met to discuss the budget. Nothing was finalized, but line items were discussed.
Doug Downey, committee chair, noted that $40,000 was budgeted for salaries in the coming year.
Utilities was budgeted at $21,000 and other areas remained around the same amounts if not a slight increase or decrease.
Lake manager Mark Boatman presented a Wish List for items to be worked on this year, including a plumbing issue, installing new picnic tables, installation of new sand, rock and dirt and perhaps the purchase of a new pontoon boat.
Downey said some of the wish list items are budgeted for next year; others may or may not be able to be taken care of depending on how the finances are at that particular time.
There was no further updates on the lake’s website. Last month, Downey reported he was working with Illini Tech to build the website and will be done by camping season.
Lake lease late payment fees were discussed with the possibility of changing a portion of the lease for those not paying fees by the Feb. 1 deadline receiving a $10 per day late charge for 30 days.
If after the 30-day period the fees have not been paid, the contract with the lake and the tenant will become void.
Of the over 60 who reside at Carlinville lake, around 12 or 13 have not paid their payments as of this time, Downey said.
Reminders are sent out in the mail and a phone call is also made to bring the matter to the tenant’s attention.
