Macoupin County Sheriff Shawn Kahl announced last week that a male subject was arrested late Wednesday, Feb. 8, following an incident in rural Plainview. Though Kahl did not identify the individual in the press release he issued on Feb. 9, charges filed at Macoupin County Courthouse indicate it was Danny Kline, 32, of Plainview.
According to Kahl, his office received a 911 call around 8:13 p.m. from a female residing in the 1300 block of Halliday Road screaming that she needed help for her and her son; while deputies were en route, dispatch advised that a male subject had beat the woman and her young son with a crescent wrench, and the male subject had fled the scene. According to the charges filed, the woman was Kline’s girlfriend.
Upon arrival, the deputies found a female with severe head injuries and a male juvenile with head injuries. Both were transported to Carlinville Area Hospital. The female was then airlifted to St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, while the male was transported to Memorial Hospital, Springfield, by ambulance.
A Macoupin County detective was called to the scene. After a three-hour manhunt, the subject was apprehended without incident by Macoupin County deputies with assistance from Illinois State Police, about three miles south of the residence.
Kline has been charged with one count of aggravated domestic battery and three counts of aggravated battery. He remains in custody at the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department on $75,000 bond. He is set to appear for a preliminary hearing in front of Judge Joshua Meyer at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28.
