Kenneth R. Qualls
Kenneth R. Qualls, 69, of Carlinville, passed away Thursday morning, May 30, 2013, at his residence. He was born Aug. 1, 1943, in Carlinville to Raymond and Anna Fox Qualls. He married Mariann Lippold Oct. 20, 1967, in Carlinville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Drew Dyer in 2004.
Kenny was a 1961 graduate of Carlinville High School and served in the United States Army for the Missel Unit during Vietnam. He worked for GTE for 14 1/2 years, Rathgeb Brothers and Fred Smith Equipment as a salesman for 17 years, Area Diesel Service for nine years as a tech and at the age of 40 he attended auctioneer school and became a licensed auctioneer. He was a member of Guy Baird America Legion Post #544 as past commander, Carlinville Elks Lodge #1412 and the Massy Harris Collectors Club.
Surviving are his wife Mariann; one son, David (Pamela) Qualls, of Mt. Olive; one daughter, Michelle (Wally) Dyer, of Carlinville; three grandchildren, Jessica Heyen, Acacia Dyer and Nathan Dyer, all at home; one sister, Nancy (Peter Palm) Fox, of Plymouth, Minn.; one brother, Sam (Anita) Qualls, of Columbia, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Sunday, June 2, 2013, from 3-7 p.m., at Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville.
Funeral services were Monday, June 3, 2013, at 11 a.m., also at Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church with Deacon Scott Joiner officiating.
Burial followed in the New Calvary Cemetery in Carlinville with military rites performed by the Guy Baird American Legion Post #544.
