Kathy J. Heinz, 52

GILLESPIE (May 30, 2018) – Kathy JoAnn Heinz, 52, of Gillespie passed away at 5:55 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born Sept. 6, 1965, in Fairfax, Va., to Dr. Charles R. and Betty Jane (Browning) Heinz.

Ms. Heinz graduated from Gillespie High School in 1983 and received her bachelor’s degree in speech and language from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and her master’s degree in specialist speech and language from SIU Edwardsville. She was certified as a language speech specialist and worked as a language speech pathologist for Marygold Rehab in Galesburg. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority at SIUC.

Surviving are a son, Ethan Newingham of Carrollton; daughter, Chelsea (boyfriend, Connor Evans) Newingham of Carrollton; son, EMN 3 Petty Officer Cole Newingham, who is stationed with the U.S. Navy in Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren, Adalee Newingham and Wynsten Stieglitz; brothers, Richard (Mimi) Sukup of Fort Worth, Texas, Fred (Leslie) Heinz of Cobden, Ed (Maria) Heinz of Petaluma, Calif., and Charles Heinz Jr. of San Francisco, Calif.; sisters, Paula (Jeff) Lucca of Frankfort and Cindy (Jeff) Thacker of Hendersonville, Tenn.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Heinz.

Friends may call from noon until services at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 3, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Gillespie.
