Junior Cavies end skid with three straight wins
Carlinville Middle School scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning Wednesday to secure an 8-5 win at Bunker Hill, ending a three-game losing streak.
The Junior Cavies (3-3) scored a single run in each of the first five innings and led 5-2 at that point.
But Bunker Hill with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh forced extra innings, where Carlinville won it with three in the 10th.
Dustin Roberts went 3 for 6 with three runs and an RBI; Carson Wiser 2 for 5, double, two RBIs; Lonny Rosentreter 2 for 6, two RBIs; Chase Michaelis run; Cole Tapscott run; Mason Duckels 1 for 1; Cooper Gossard 3 for 4, two doubles, RBI; Ayden Tiburzi 3 for 5, two doubles, run, RBI; Levi Yudinsky and Zadien Reese both scored a run.
Strutner pitched the first six innings, allowing three earned runs while striking out one. Rosentreter and winning pitcher Tiburzi both struck out one in their stints.
Carlinville 6, North Mac 4
Thursday at Loveless Park, the Junior Cavies moved back over the .500 mark by defeating North Mac, coming from behind.
The Panthers led 4-0 after two and a half innings.
Carlinville (4-3) scored twice in the third and twice in the fifth to tie the game, then won it with two runs in the sixth inning.
Strutner went 2 for 4, two runs; Roberts 1 for 4, run; Wiser 2 for 3, run, RBI; Rosentreter 3 for 3, double, run, RBI; Byots 1 for 1, double, run, RBI; Gossard 1 for 4, run; Tiburzi 2 for 3.
Cole Tapscott struck out two over five and two-thirds innings, allowing two earned runs. Dawson Westnedge got the win, striking out two in one and a third innings of relief.
The Junior Cavies won at Mt. Olive Monday afternoon by a 12-5 count for their third straight win, improving to 5-3 overall. .
