John L. Redding

John Louie Redding, 80, of Cutler Bay, Fla., passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 6, 1938, in Winston-Salem, N.C., to the late William H. and Mortie (Shore) Redding. He married Phyllis (Peters) Redding 58 years ago; she survives.

After graduating from high school in 1956, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served on active duty for 12 years. Upon discharge, he finished in the Air Force Reserves, completing a total of 21 years of service to the country. He also worked for Eastern Air Lines for 18 years.

In addition to his wife, surviving are his sons, Timothy (Cheryl) Redding and Todd (Frankie) Redding; grandchildren, Caitlyn (Robby) Bondurant, Tyler (fiancee Samantha Cweika) Redding and Tanner Redding; brothers, William H. Redding Jr. and James C. Redding; sister, Christine Fine; and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and baby sister, Patricia Ann.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m, Friday, Jan. 4, at Stanfill Funeral Home, 10545 South Dixie Highway, Miami, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, at Cornerstone Church, 20740 Old Cutler Road, Cutler Bay, Fla. interment will follow at Woodlawn Park South Cemetery in Miami, Fla.
