Jason Eugene Shade, 42, of Jacksonville passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 28, 1974, in Carlinville, a son of Louis and Donna (Brunk) Shade. He married Deborah McDevitt in a baseball-themed wedding on Oct. 9, 2008, at Rachel’s Bed and Breakfast in Annapolis, Mo.; she survives.

Mr. Shade worked at IGA in Virginia for 11 years; 10 years as a substitute USPS rural mail carrier for the town of Virginia; sewing books at Bound to Stay Bound in Jacksonville; as a shipping clerk and later manager at Illinois Glove in Beardstown for eight years; and as a shipping clerk for Rutland Products in Jacksonville. He enjoyed baseball, including playing in Virginia Little League as a child, later coaching summer youth leagues, and attending major league games; his favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers. He also enjoyed road trips, connecting with his family, throwing washers, playing cards and Sudoku, solving puzzles, and reading.

In addition to his wife, surviving are his parents, Louis and Donna Shade of Sorrento, Fla.; a son, Ivan Shade, at home; a sister, Kimberly (Travis) Mefford of Virginia; a brother, Kevin (companion, Beth Behrends) Shade of Virginia; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Velma Brunk of Virginia; and his mother- and father-in-law, Bob and Debbie McDevitt of Franklin.

A tribute celebrating his life will be held at a later date. Williamson Funeral Home, Jacksonville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
