James Alan Killam


James Alan Killam, 65, of Carlinville, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021.

He was born August 19, 1955 to Edwin and Margaret (Bouillon) Killam in Carlinville.

He married Karla Huff on June 27, 1975 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlinville.

Jim graduated from Carlinville High School in 1973. He was a lifelong livestock and grain farmer. He enjoyed working side by side with his three boys, and he shared his love of farming with his grandbabies.

Jim became a Certified Master Judge of the Kansas City Barbeque Society in 2013, and he served 16 years as a Bird Township Trustee.

One of his favorite family annual events was the Macoupin County Fair where he shared many memories of tractor pulls, livestock shows, demo derbies and enjoying the carnival with his grand babies.

He is survived his wife; three sons, Tom (Amy) Killam, Matthew (Gretchen) Killam, Rodney (Danley) Killam; six grand babies Blake “Bubba Lu”, Garrett “Bubba G”, Ashlyn “Love Bug”, Drew “Drewberg”, Emmalyn “LuLu”, and Logan “Logey Bear” all of Carlinville; a brother, Robert Killam; mother-in-law, Sherry Huff both of Carlinville; sisters-in-law, Kathy Siebert of Carlinville, Karen (Randy) Hull of Jacksonville; brother-in-law, Kevin (Arleen) Huff of Rangley, Colo; nieces and nephews, Beth Ann Huff, Curt Huff, Bill Hull, Tara Hull, Kyle Killam, Megan Killam, Travis Killam, Cody Killam; and lifelong family friend, Doris Kahle of Carlinville.

He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Donald Huff; and brother-in-law, Kent Huff.

A drive thru visitation will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Charity Baptist Church from noon-3 p.m. A private family burial will immediately follow at Charity Baptist Cemetery.

Memorials may go to the Shriners, MCDD, or the Mid America Transplant Foundation.
