Robert M. and Elizabeth “Bettie” (Anderson) Homer of San Jose, Calif., celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, May 31, at their home. Both were born and raised in Carlinville, where they lived until their marriage at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Their attendants were the newly married Dr. H.G. and Mary (Loehr) Zilm; the couples honeymooned together in Vero Beach, Fla.
Three of the couple’s six sons (Stephen, James and Bruce) were with them for the celebration. The remaining sons — Richard of Klamath Falls, Ore., George of Orange, Calif., and John in Kahuku, Hawaii — were unable to attend but will visit the couple in August for Mrs. Homer’s 100th birthday. They have nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, including quadruplet girls.
