Hess charged with Class X felony
Thomas A. Hess, now 32, of Virden has been charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X felony.
The charge stems from an incident on or about Nov. 10 in which Hess allegedly committed an act of sexual penetration with a person under 13 years of age.
A warrant for his arrest was issued and served Tuesday, Dec. 20. A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, in Courtroom C of Macoupin County Courthouse, with Judge Joshua Meyer presiding.
Class X felonies carry a minimum sentence of 6-30 years (with a possible extended term of 30-60 years), no probation, and a mandatory supervised release term of three years.
Hess is being held in Macoupin County Jail on $250,000 bail.
