Healthy Heart Contest winners
MACOUPIN COUNTY (April 12, 2018) – In honor of February being National Heart Month, Macoupin County Public Health Department invited the county’s schools to participate in its annual Healthy Heart Contest to make students aware of heart disease, the nation’s leading cause of death.
Kindergarten, first and second grade students were invited to participate in a coloring contest, while those in grades 3-5 participated in a poster contest.
Winners were Alivia Schoen at Ben-Gil Elementary School, kindergarten; Chase Kallal at Brighton North Elementary School, first grade; Bella Gunning at Carlinville Primary School, second grade; Katrina Haynes at Carlinville Primary School, third grade; and Wesley Pehrson at Wolf Ridge Elementary School in Bunker Hill, fifth grade. Each winner received a gift certificate to Altitude Trampoline Park in Glen Carbon.
Entries for the contest were submitted from Ben-Gil Elementary School, Brighton North Elementary School, Carlinville Intermediate School, Carlinville Primary School, Mt. Olive Elementary School, North Mac Elementary/Intermediate School, Staunton Elementary School and Wolf Ridge Elementary School. All participants received a certificate and a prize to acknowledge their efforts to build healthy hearts.
