HCE members attend fall retreat
HILLSBORO ( Nov. 9, 2017) – University of Illinois Extension hosted an all-day fall retreat for the Home and Community Education Association (HCE) Oct. 17 at the Montgomery County Extension office in Hillsboro, with more than 40 people attending from Christian, Jersey, Macoupin and Montgomery Counties. Members gathered to hear speakers and share in social activities.
The retreat began at 10 a.m. with a welcome and introduction by Nutrition and Wellness Educator Lisa Peterson. To get to know each other, the attendees played “What’s in your purse,” in which the winning team had the most unusual items in their purses. Peterson then presented “What’s in Your Kitchen,” going over meals and desserts with five or fewer ingredients. She then discussed making the most out of small appliances and gadgets. Members ended the workshop by creating a recyclable coaster using old CDs and yarn. Lunch was provided by the Christian County HCE chapter.
Preparations are underway to organize a spring HCE retreat. For more information, contact the local Extension office at (217) 854-9604 or visit web.extension.illinois.edu/cjmm.
