Hart, Kufa on World Series team

Ryenn Hart and Henry Kufa represented Carlinville as members of the champion Springfield Cardinals, recent winners of the American Amateur Baseball Congress Gil Hodges’ 11-under World Series. The team pulled off a 6-4 win over Puerto Rico Aug. 1 in Rockford.
The World Series Most Valuable Player award went to Hart. A pitcher, he went 2-0 in the tournament, pitching three innings in relief during the championship game for the title, where he allowed one run on two hits with three strikeouts. The Cardinals earned the championship by going 5-0 in the four-day tournament.
In the series, Hart had 10 RBIs and went 12-18 at the plate.
The Cardinals finished their season by winning 19 games straight and ending with a 57-7 record.
