Harbaugh arrested for incident
CARLINVILLE (Nov. 16, 2017) – Takoda M. Harbaugh, 20, of Carlinville has been arrested in connection with the Oct. 19 robbery and sexual assault of an elderly woman on her way to work. He has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual assault (victim over the age of 60) and armed robbery, all Class X felonies, and is currently being held at Macoupin County Jail on $1 million bond.
The charges allege that on Oct. 19, Harbaugh, while displaying a knife, sexually assaulted a 62-year-old woman and took U.S. currency from her while threatening her with a knife. “The heinous conduct alleged against Mr. Harbaugh is extremely serious and will not be tolerated in Macoupin County,” said Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jennifer Watson. “I want to thank the Carlinville Police Department for the exemplary work on this case.”
Harbaugh was also charged Nov. 6 with felony theft in connection with a Nov. 5 incident in which he allegedly exerted unauthorized control over an individual’s iPhone 7, valued at more than $500 but less than $10,000.
Harbaugh is set to appear in front of Judge Joshua A. Meyer for a preliminary hearing on all charges at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 27.
