Golfers wind down season with final home meet

The crispness of the early fall was evident Thursday at Carlinville Country Club, where the Cavaliers hosted their final home meet of the 2016 golf season.

A brisk wind and chillier conditions led to some golfers electing to wear warmer gear as they hit the links.

East Alton-Wood River won the boys meet with a team score of 176, followed by Carlinville at 201 and Hillsboro at 208. The medalist was EAWR’s Drew Sobol with a 36.

Payton Jamieson and Lucas Medford shot 43s for the Cavaliers.

The girls side had Carrollton outshooting Carlinville 220-224. The Cavies’ Ali Hurley did become the medalist of the meet with a round of 44.

The postseason began Tuesday with boys regionals at Governors Run Golf Course in Carlyle, with the host school Trenton Wesclin. Results can be found on enquirerdemocrat.com

The girls regionals is Wednesday at Edgewood Golf Course in Auburn.
