Golfers set to hit the links at CHS

The Carlinville golf team will try and improve on the links as a new season gets underway.

The team opened Monday at Raymond Lincolnwood (see related story), with five home meets scheduled this year at the Carlinville Country Club.

On the girls side, the Cavies roster includes Ali Hurley, Ann Traylor, Cara Emery, Sydney Cania and Macy Walker.

The boys team includes Lucas Mefford, Tom Sanson, Ryan Haschemeyer, Payton Jamieson and Jay Rosentreter.

On the boys side, all are returning with the exception of Haschemeyer.

“We’re looking at some guys stepping up to fill some spots,” said Carlinville coach Logan Ridenour. “We’re mainly young.”

The girls side returns Hurley as a defending sectional qualifier from last year.

“We are looking for growth,” Ridenour said. “We’re looking for Ali to continue along those lines and looking for the other girls to pick it up. Try to teach them the game and go from there and see what happens.”

Tuesday was the first home meet for the Cavies. They will also have home meets on Aug. 31, Sept. 12, Sept. 20 and Sept. 29.

The boys conference meet is at The Rail on Sept. 26 and the girls at Indian Springs on Sept. 27.

Boys regionals are Oct. 4 and girls regionals Oct. 5.
