Golfers host final home meet of 2015

Under sunny skies and a cool breeze, October was welcomed to the Carlinville Country Club on Thursday afternoon for the final home meet of the 2015 season.

The golfers will take aim at regionals next Tuesday and Wednesday.

The girls team did not have a full team meet as their opponents, Jerseyville and Carrollton had just one and two golfers, respectively.

Jersey’s Hanna Taylor was the medalist for the girls with a round of 41.

Ali Hurley led Carlinville, finishing second overall with a 45. Sydney Cania had a 51; Baylee Hughes 54 and Macy Walker 60.

On the boys side, Hillsboro shot a 183, East Alton-Wood River 193 and Carlinville 221.

The medalist was Drew Sobol of East Alton-Wood River with a one-over-par 37.

Carlinville was led by Colton Winters with a 46; Payton Jamieson 53; Jay Rosentreter 55; Lucas Mefford 57; Eric Ware 60 and Tom Sanson 62.

Regionals started Tuesday for the boys at Trenton Wesclin Regional at Governor’s Run in Carlyle, while the girls golf regionals were Wednesday at Pana.
