Golfers drop first meets of season
The Carlinville golf teams opened shop Monday afternoon at Shoal Creek Golf Course in Raymond.
The boys battled Lincolnwood, Auburn and Tri-City. The girls team took on Lincolnwood.
The hosts won both boys and girls action. Led by co-medalist Reese Snyder with a 41 and Andrew Skinner with a 43, the Lancers scored 174 to edge out Auburn with a 183. The Trojans were led by co-medalist Tanner Bailey’s 41.
Carlinville scored a 217. Lucas Mefford shot a round of 52, while Jay Rosentreter had a round of 53. Payton Jamieson shot a 54; while Tom Sanson, with a birdie on the par-three seventh hole, carded a 58 overall.
The Carlinville girls lost 192-237 to the Lancers. Lincolnwood was led by standout athlete Abby Brockmeyer, medalist with a round of three-over 39.
Ali Hurley led the Cavies with a round of 42, including a birdie on the par-5 fourth hole.
Sydney Cania shot a round of 49; Ann Traylor had a 71; Cara Emery 75 and Macy Walker an 80.
