FSA reminds farmers of wheat, forage crop reporting deadline

FSA reminds farmers of wheat, forage crop reporting

CARLINVILLE (Jan. 9, 2017) – John P. Nolan, CED for the Macoupin County Farm Service Agency office, reminds producers that new acreage reporting dates are in effect for the 2018 crop year. New crop reporting dates require, for FSA/RMA purposes, that fall seeded small grains (such as wheat, barley and rye) and perennial forage (such as alfalfa, clover and other grasses) used for haying and/or grazing purposes be reported to FSA by Friday, Dec. 15.

Applying for commodity loans, LDPs, CRP acres and the ARC/PLC programs requires a timely filed acreage report to receive program benefits. Filing an accurate acreage report can prevent the loss of FSA program benefits. The acres must be reported by Dec. 15 to avoid a late-filed fee of $46 per farm after that deadline; this includes cropland waterways used for forage/grazing purposes.
