Flu, pneumonia clinics in October

Macoupin County Public Health Department has scheduled clinics for flu and pneumonia vaccinations in communities throughout Macoupin County. The Center for Disease Control recommends that everyone over the age of six months receive an annual flu vaccination.

Clinics will be held as follows.

Saturday, Oct. 1: 9-11 a.m. at the MCPHD office, 805 North Broad Street, Carlinville.

Tuesday, Oct. 4: 8 a.m.-noon at Bunker Hill Community Center, and 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Medora firehouse.

Wednesday, Oct. 5: 9-10:30 a.m. at Shipman Community Center and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Brighton Municipal Building.

Tuesday, Oct. 11: 1-3 p.m. at Carlinville Moose Lodge.

Wednesday, Oct. 19: 4-6:30 p.m. at Maple Street Clinic in Gillespie.

Thursday, Oct. 20: 9-11 a.m. at Palmyra Municipal Hall and 3-5 p.m. at Virden Community Center.

The clinics are for people of all ages. Children may also receive flu vaccines by appointment at MCPHD’s Carlinville office. No walk-in flu or pneumonia vaccines will be available at the MCPHD Carlinville office.

The cost is $30 for the influenza vaccine and $78 for the pneumonia vaccine. Both are covered by Medicare part B, Medicaid and Blue Cross Blue Shield. MCPHD will provide a receipt for individuals to receive reimbursement from all other private insurance companies.
